Calgon Carbon contracted to prevent disinfection byproducts

23 June 2010

Calgon Carbon Corp has won a US$3.0 million contract from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority in Marietta, Georgia, USA to help comply with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Stage 2 Disinfection Byproducts Rule (DBP Rule), which takes effect April 2012.

Calgon Carbon will supply 28 Model 12-40 granular activated carbon pressure vessels, which will serve as post-filter contactors to remove disinfection byproducts precursors at the authority’s Hugh A Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant and prevent the formation of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in the region’s drinking water.
