Eco-Solids International due to finish first sludge water treatment unit in China

23 August 2010

The Eco-Solids Process unit in Shenyang signals the start of a potential further 20 units to be built over the next three years in the Liaoning province.

The culmination of the first Eco-Solids Process system in Liaoning follows the signing of a major licensing agreement between Eco-Solids and Shenyang Yinuo Science and Technology Company in north east China.

The Eco-Solids Process uses a continuous stabilisation process for treating all types of sewage sludge, including sludges which contain a proportion of hard to handle Surplus/Secondary Activated Sludge (SAS). The process produces an enhanced treated biosolid and income-generating product (which exceeds European and U S regulatory requirements). It also results in significant reductions in sludge volume, volatile solids (VS) and odours, whilst retaining non-leachable nitrogen and phosphates. Complete inactivation of microbiological activity is also achieved, as well as an improved percentage of solids of the product.

Clive Rigden, managing director, Eco-Solids, said: “As the Chinese look to improve sludge management, recycling and greenhouse gas emissions, we have proved that with the right technology and a patient but determined approach, it is possible to get to the heart of a major market. Watching the finishing touches being made to our first Eco Solids Process system in China is an exciting and very rewarding moment for us.”
