Singapore selects Severn Trent Services disinfection system

11 November 2011

Severn Trent Services’ ClorTec on-site sodium hypochlorite generation disinfection system will be used at the Singapore Public Utility Board’s (PUB) new Lower Seletar 60 MGD drinking water treatment plant.

Earlier this year, Severn Trent Services was awarded a contract for four ClorTec systems, each with a capacity of 1500 lb/day, by the project’s main contractor Sembawang Engineers and Constructors Pte Ltd.

The ClorTec on-site hypochlorite generation system uses three common consumables in the sodium hypochlorite generating process - salt, water and electricity - to generate a 0.8% solution.

Marwan Nesicolaci, vice president of international sales for Severn Trent Services, says that interest in alternative disinfection technologies is growing in the Asia Pacific region, with recent on-site generation system installations in Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam and Australia.

Plant construction is scheduled for completion by 2013.
