City of Glen Cove’s water system infrastructure receives a $500,000 injection

09 November 2009

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Peter King secured the money through the Fiscal Year 2010 Interior and Environmental Appropriations bill.

The funding will be used to upgrade the city’s water systems including the drinking and storm water infrastructure.

Mayor Suozzi said, “We are grateful to Representative King and Senator Gillibrand for their outstanding leadership and effective efforts in securing this funding. I am pleased that our congressional delegation is supportive of our lobbying efforts to bring this much needed funding to Glen Cove.”

To date, the City of Glen Cove has received over $12.8 million in federal dollars since beginning its lobbying effort in Washington during the first quarter of 2006. As well as the $500,000, the city is waiting to hear if it will receive a further $2 million to help fund local infrastructure projects.
