Civil engineering award for Katrine project

10 March 2009

Black & Veatch’s Katrine water treatment project has won the prestigious Saltire Society Award for Civil Engineering in 2008.

The Black & Veatch facility, which provides drinking water for more than 700,000 people in and around Glasgow, UK, won the award for its “significant achievement in planning, designing and constructing a state-of-the-art water treatment facility,” according to the Saltire Society and the UK’s Insitution of Civil Engineers, which awarded the prize. The project was delivered two months ahead of schedule and £10 million under budget.

“Winning the Saltire Award is a fantastic achievement and was only possible due to the outstanding commitment and contribution of everyone who was involved in the project,” said Tony Collins, managing director of Black & Veatch’s UK water business. “Our client, the local community, our design partners and supply chain participants demonstrated great team work.”
