Veolia Water subsidiaries to provide filtration systems for one of the world’s largest gold mines

04 January 2010

Barrick Gold Corporation’s Pascua Lama project, located 4,000 metres above sea level, on the border between Argentina and Chile, will take delivery of the 10 Whittier Filtration FiltraMatic pressure leaf filters in January 2011.

Each Whittier Filtration FiltraMatic pressure leaf filter from Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has a surface area of 3,400 feet and can treat 6,600 m3/hour of gold and silver-bearing sodium cyanide leaching solution for a Merrill Crowe process. The design of the Whittier Filtration FiltraMatic pressure leaf filter allows easy access to the internal filter leaves for maintenance with an automatic retracting shell. Precoat media offers very fine filtration and is retained on 640 high-quality stainless steel pressure leaf elements.
