Scottish Water accepts Final Determination for 2010-15

27 January 2010

The five year delivery plan from the Water Industry Commission for Scotland lays out the future activity and investment for Scottish Water from 1 April

Scottish Water will invest around £2.5 billion on improving customer service and performance to ensure that customers continue to enjoy charges which are amongst the lowest in the UK.

Alan Sutherland, chief executive of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) said: “Scottish Water has accepted the terms of our Final Price Determination, which we delivered last November. Households and businesses across Scotland can now look forward to enjoying a below-inflation price rise on their water bills for the next five years including a likely freeze on charges over the next two years. Scottish Water is in a position to deliver increased levels of investment and customer service as well as further environmental benefits. Added to this, Scottish businesses and public sector organisations are also in the unique position of being able to negotiate further reductions on their bills through the world’s first and only competitive water retail market which we introduced in 2008.”
