Water Corporation completes two-year upgrade of Sterling Dam

19 February 2010

The Water Corporation upgraded the 57 billion litre Sterling Dam, in Western Australia, as part of the Government’s ongoing State-wide dam safety and maintenance programme

Water Minister Graham Jacobs, who unveiled the dam, said: “Western Australia’s dams and water infrastructure are some of our most importance assets. This project involved the Water Corporation modifying the dam’s 52-metre-high embankment and widening its spillway, making it capable of withstanding the highest rainfall event that hydrologists predict can occur in the area.”

The State Government has also started a $40 million upgrade of the nearby Wellington Dam to bring it in line with today’s engineering standards.
