Illinois American Water’s Interurban District invests $600,000 in water main replacements

11 March 2010

The investment from Illinois American Water will fund the replacement of two-inch with eight-inch water mains in Belleville, East St Louis, Granite City and Madison

American Water has been addressing increased water service demands through its water main replacement programme. The programme focuses on replacing mains where leaks occur, corrosion has caused damage, or the size of the pipe is not sufficient.

Grant Evitts, operations manager for Illinois American Water’s Interurban District, said: “This investment will enhance water quality and water pressure as well as fire protection to out customers. The completion of these projects will also minimise the occurrence of leaks and enhance system reliability.”
