AECOM wins two agriculture contracts totalling $30.8 million

11 May 2010

The contracts for a five-year irrigation and agriculture project in Burkina Faso, West Africa, will be fulfilled in collaboration with African partner businesses.

AECOM will provide a range of consulting services to the government of Burkina Faso to improve irrigation systems, spark agricultural production and generate economic growth to help offset rural poverty in the region.

To improve irrigation systems, AECOM will develop a 5,060 acre irrigation scheme, conduct flood-simulation modelling, rehabilitate a dam to regulate critical reservoir water levels and flow and provide construction supervision and training services for the operation of the irrigation system in the Sourou Valley.

John M Dionisio, president and chief executive officer, AECOM, said: “We are proud to play a key role in supporting the country’s growing population and improving residents’ quality of life.”
