2010 IWA Project Innovation Award winners announced

The Project Innovation Awards (PIA) Programme was established by the International Water Association to recognise excellence and innovation in water engineering projects across the world.

The PIA programme supports the International Water Association’s goal to ‘connect water professionals worldwide to lead the development of effective and sustainable approaches to water management’. Project evaluation is based on criteria such as; social, economic and sustainable design and the future value to the water engineering profession.

Applied research winner - SNU Rainwater Research Centre, Suwon City, Namhae County, and Geomarine Co for ‘Climate change adaptation through the promotion of ‘rain cities’’.

Design winner – Black & Veatch for ‘Design and construction of re-provisioning of WSD Utilities and infrastructure works for proposed Centennial Campus of the University of Hong Kong.

Operations/Management winner - Tokyo Suido Services Co for ‘Development of time integral type leakage detector’.

Planning winner - Taipei Water Department for ‘Taipei water department leakage control and management by DMA’.

Small projects winner – Nagaoka International Corp for ‘The development and application of innovative high speed biological groundwater treatment technology’.
